During my Instagram browsing, I came across Sucre Dreamers. Sucre Dreamers is the creative baby of Hannah. She creates handmade baby mobiles from felt. After seeing and liking all of her stunning Instagram photos, I realized that she had an Etsy page!

Her super cute mobiles range in price from $30 to $75 dollars and come in all different colours and styles. I got into contact with Hannah, and not too long after that, I received a lovely package in the mail.

thank you succre dreamers

Handmade Baby Mobile

I love handmade items. I feel like I have a personal connection with the person who created it. It is clear that they put a lot of effort and time into the product, and I like to support that time and effort.

You can tell Hannah put in a lot of love in her mobiles and takes pride in the final product. Not only are Sucre Dreamer’s mobiles handmade, but they are also people and environmentally friendly.

Fair Trade and Non-Toxic Materials

The other reason I fell in love with this baby mobile was the fact that the felt balls are imported straight from Nepal. Not only are they fair trade, but they are made from eco-friendly and non-toxic wool. I’m no expert, but I have done a bit of research on the environmental impact of the garment industry. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a hardcore environmentalist. The only reason I turn off my lights when I am not home is to save money on my bill! That being said, I do care about the environmental impact of toxic dyes on vulnerable populations. Many times, the local water supply is used up and toxic waste is dumped, untreated into remaining streams and lakes. If you are a worker making fabric for .35 cents a meter you probably aren’t able to afford access to clean drinking water.

Decorating with my new mobile

For now, the mobile is more for me and my first daughter than my three-month-old. I asked my first daughter where I should put the mobile, and she suggested I put it in her room. I told her that it was for the baby and maybe it should go above her crib. Reluctantly, she agreed and we went to work!

I am pretty pleased with the way the mobile fit into the room with my other handmade wall decor that I got at a local Calgary market.

Next time I have to buy a baby gift, I’ll be sure to keep Sucre Dreamers in mind and you should too!
