I find that as a parent, it is crucial you take time for yourself. I don’t care what anyone says. You cannot be full time wife, or mother, or both and be a complete person. You have to do things for yourself. You have to be your own person and do things you like.
It is also really important to practice self care. Lots of women will try to tell other women that self-care is selfish. It is not. It is essential. It is almost selfish to not take care of yourself.
What is self care?
Self care is care provided “for you, by you.” It’s about identifying your own needs and taking steps to meet them. It is taking the time to do some of the activities that nurture you. Self care is about taking proper care of yourself and treating yourself as kindly as you treat others. – fgwrc.ca
This is why I decided to go the spa on Monday! I figured it would be a great way to start my week.
A Natural Spa: The Natural Art Of Skin Care
I went to the Natural Art Of Skin Care and I got a basic, registered massage. The atmosphere of this spa was so relaxing and unpretentious. I dislike “modern” looking spas that look closely resemble hospitals. How does one relax in such a place? I digress. The Natural Art of Skin Care had a warm, home like feel to it. The aroma of the spa was fantastic!
My massage therapist was so friendly and she noticed I had a lot of tension in my shoulders and back. I figured it was because in my Monday workout classes we do a lot of arms and shoulders. At the end of class we don’t really stretch out those parts, so I will start stretch those muscles more often. *that was my lesson of the day*
I like this spa because of the focus on natural products and a holistic approach to wellness and beauty.
Feeling Good About Life | Living With Intentions
At the end of the massage, or any other treatment you get, you are asked to pick out three cards. They are supposed to help you through the day or week. These are the three I got.
- Royalty: “I move through life with dignity”
- Concentration: “I am single-minded and clear”
- Happiness: “I will be happy in all that I do”
I thought it was quite cool that they encouraged clients to leave not only feeling relaxed but purposeful too.
What I wore to a day at the spa
It was a bit nippy outside, but I still wanted to wear a skirt. I find that they are easier to put on and take off than pants. This is helpful since you have to take off your clothes to get a proper massage.
I am also in love with these combat style boots that are warmer than flats and more practical than highheel boots. I decided to keep it pretty neutral and threw on a cream tank top and grey blazer. Actually, now that I think about it, this was a pretty boring outfit. Ah well, I wasn’t feeling the best that week, so I forgive myself for being boring. Even though it was less than stellar, it was comfortable! I added a long brass necklace and shorter beaded necklace and I was on my way.
Next time I go to the spa I may get a facial or body wrap. There are so many great options to choose from at the Natural Art of Skin Care that I will have to make going here a regular occurrence.
