I purchased this face mask on a whim last week. I was looking for a make up sponge while waiting for my online grocery order tobe completed. Too much boring detail? Maybe.
Anyway, I wanted a good amount of “reusable” face mask product. I have only used the disposable masks three or 4 times in my life and I truly despise having to constantly purchase them. Not only am I unorganized, but I’m also poor. I can’t be spending 4.99 or 7.99 on a single use mask!
L’Oreal Clay Mask Packaging
The packaging was decent. I would say above average for a drugstore find. It had a transparent centre to view the jar from and was pretty descriptive on use and expected benefits. ‘Duh Jameela,’ I’m sure you are saying ‘they are trying to SELL it.’
You would be surprised at the lack of communication on packaging of the other products I spotted.
I have combination skin (dry in some spots, oily in others) so the claim that it was good for all skin types worked for me.
There were plenty other claims on the package that I simply couldn’t believe. For example, “Your skin feels as though it can breathe better. ” What the heck does that even mean?!
I really liked the heavy glass jar the mask came in. It made it feel like a luxurious product even though I only spent like 14 dollars on it 😊
How to use L’Oreal’s Charcoal clay mask
You are supposed to do the following
- Apply an even layer to clean dry skin
- Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes
- Rinse with water
I usually use the mask after a shower and spend the 10-15 minutes getting dressed and tidying (if I am not interrupted by babies).
The mixture goes on smoothly and is a deep grey colour.
It dries an ashy grey colour and makes your skin feel super tight. It makes your skin so tight it is hard to speak.
Omg are my pores that big?!
Why a charcoal face mask?
I have used charcoal producta before and have liked them. They always seem to do the job right the first time.
Charcoal when used on the skin helps to pull out dirt. This makes the appearance of your pores look smaller since the oil and dirt build up makes your pores look bigger.
I was happy with the results the first time. I had a lot (like 2 or 3) of “extractions” come out. White heads, that kind of thing.
My skin felt good after rinsing the mask off. No dryness or unwanted residue. I had to moisturize after (obviously) but it was to be expected.
In the past few days, I’ve used the mask as “spot treatment ” for my many pimples that seem to be cropping up every few days. It helped along one bothersome pimple, so I will give L’Oreal a gold star for that.
I would most likely use and purchase this product again unless, of course, something better comes along.
