These days, I haven’t gotten around to doing my hair as often as I should. On days when I just can’t be bothered, I reach for my nearest scarf and tie it around my head. I feel like I can get away with it mostly because it is accepted in African culture to wear head-ties in casual settings. In North America, it can come across as a fashion statement. The interpretation as a fashion statement is what I bet on when I wake up 20 minutes before I am supposed to be somewhere!

How to Style a Headwrap

Statement Earrings

I try to wear statement earrings when I am rocking a headwrap. I am not usually an earring wearer (even though I make jewelry), but something seems lacking when I simply wear a headwrap.

A Bold Lip

There is something to be said about a bold piece of head gear and a bold lip colour to boot. I suggest wearing this combination to a festival or outdoor party.

Statement Necklace

Go big or go home. Style a headwrap with a statement necklace that compliments the colours in your wrap.

Yes, Monochrome.ย Wear head to toe in a single colour. Okay…maybe not head to two, but a matching wrap and lip colour, or top can make a pretty cool outfit.

Now I know that I stole these photos from Pinterest, but I have worn these combinations in the past and I can say with certainty that it works ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. A head wrap makes such a fashion statement for sure! I love all of the styled photos you have shared here and now that I think about it I don’t think I have ever tried one ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  2. Never worn a headwrap and it always seems so intimidating to try. Not sure if I’ll ever be able to carry one as you’ve done.. You make it seem so effortless ๐Ÿ™‚ Love the styling and if ever I prep up my confidence, will be scooting over here for suggestions ๐Ÿ™‚
